I commenced working for the HCPTS in September 2017 as a Lay Panel Chair. The primary purpose of the role is to chair a range of independent panels to consider allegations of impairment of fitness to practice for individual registrants. The tribunal service is one component of the Health and Care Professions Council which maintains and manages a register of health and care professionals covering, for example social workers, paramedics, physiotherapists, psychologists and radiographers.• Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. I commenced working for the Trust in June 2017 as an independent Hospital Manager which involves chairing and/or sitting on a variety of mental health reviews as defined under the Mental Health Act. The primary purpose of the role of chair is to ensure process and decisions are correct, lawful and justified. Prior to changing my path I provided IT management consultancy services to the private and public sectors. Assignments included:• Chief Of Staff. This role involved the provision of numerous support services to the Head of Barclays Networks and his management team.• Transformation Consultant. This role involved the development and implementation of a transformation strategy for Barclays Networks. Transformation options were identified, evaluated and socialised with key stakeholders and direct support was provided to the underpinning Change Programme. • Programme Manager for a large, complex, multi-million pound (in excess of £10m) regulatory programme positioned in the Barclays Risk & Control Programme portfolio. This programme was incepted at the behest of the financial industry regulatory bodies following a series of high profile system failures widely reported in the media. • Management Consultant and Business Mentor to an IT services start-up company. A planned break from work to pursue private interests and priorities. For example, during this period I was able to:• Support a private initiative to allow prisoners to undertake contact centre work whilst in prison. This recognises that one of the key elements to successful rehabilitation is providing prisoners with the required skills to obtain sustainable employment.• Increase my number of magistrate sittings and participate in more complex, multi-day trials. This not only increased my experience and competences but also sparked a greater interest in the justice system itself.• Expand my interest in mentoring by taking on multiple mentees. Mentoring has been a regular component within my career.• Undertake exam invigilation training and work for the University of Manchester. Working in partnership with the Chief Executive of Barclaycard and his new business strategy team the IT planning team (led by myself) developed the enabling 3 year IT strategy & plan to support the Barclaycard Business Transformation Programme.• Managing a programme of work to effectively demand manage and improve the management of a suite of IT services for the DWP. The programme of work resulted in cost savings of £64 million against the DWP's 3 year budget.• Programme Manager for the DWP IT Economic Downturn Programme. This programme was responsible for ensuring the technology and systems capacity was in place to support the increased volume of claims from people caught in the economic crisis.• The design, build, operation and handover to 'business as usual' a fit for purpose service & supplier management function to enable the ongoing management of a £600 million, 6 year outsourcing contract for Barclays Bank PLC. Including roles that involved team leadership, Board Level reporting and liaison and also platform speaking to both external and internal business and technology leaders.• As Programme Director I was responsible for the IT infrastructure design and build for Barclays first Retail contact centre.• As Head Of Service Management I led a team of circa 20 people and was accountable for ensuring the service standards, costs (circa £240m) and operational risks of the business and IT services supplied to Business Banking by service suppliers met the business needs.• As Head Of Service Delivery I led a team of circa 40 people and was accountable for the delivery of IT services to 3,000 desktops across 300 sites within Business Banking.• Effective business representation on numerous Project Steering Committees during an intensive period of business process outsourcing. Examples include the outsourcing of bank clearing, account support and mail operations.• Established and led an Operations and Systems Planning team in support of a business transformation initiative responsible for a business wide project portfolio with an annual investment spend of circa £90m.• Led both the systems analysis and programming teams for Barclaycard with specific responsibility for all online applications.
