Profile bio

About Mark Ayotte

I’m not your average HVAC technician! Of course I have strong mechanical skills, including soldering and brazing, electrical troubleshooting and compressor rebuilds and replacement. I am also a project manager, BAS administrator (Schneider, Johnson Controls and Siemens) and a facility team leader. My HVAC background, while extensive wasn't always traditional. As a young HVAC apprentice I had the “unusual” experience of working for a mechanical contractor in a large Boston hospital morgue tasked with replacing the refrigeration compressors in a walk-in holding freezer. As you can imagine, that’s a memory that’s lasted a lifetime.Another was when I was sent to a fast-food restaurant to investigate why there was hot water in all the toilet fixtures. Several plumbers in my service department were sent before me and were unable to locate and fix the problem. After hearing about this ongoing problem for several weeks I asked if I could check it out hoping to demonstrate my troubleshooting skills. After several hours I found a cross-connect between the hot and cold water and fixed the problem. The restaurant employees and customers were very pleased. My work at Eisai has given me the opportunity to expand my skill set by training on and mastering the daily operation of the Schneider BAS control system. I can read program logic and modify/improve the operating sequence when needed. I have also initiated and run major capital projects.Learning is essential to my being fully engaged in the HVAC industry. In addition to my Associates Degree in HVAC I also have Certificates in Facilities Management and HVAC Design from Northeastern University.I work hard to maintain building related mechanical equipment and HVAC systems in peak operating condition. I believe it's important to perform high level preventative maintenance in order to prevent any unplanned HVAC equipment downtime. My skill set includes servicing and maintaining the following:ChillersBoilers Air-HandlersBAS DDC Controls (Johnson Controls Metasys, Schneider Continuum and Siemens Apogee)Cooling TowersEnergy ManagementPumpsVAV BoxesFacilities Management Air Compressors Plate and Frame HX

Listed skills include Hvac, Preventive Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Equipment Maintenance, and 27 others.

Issue resolved by installing 10 pressure reducing valves (PRV’s) at the source that decreased air pressure from 100 psi to 30 psi. • Presented to Management Leadership Team a significant energy and cost savings opportunity by upgrading combustion controls on four 500 HP Cleaver Brooks steam boilers. Realized cost savings totaling 50% of project, in addition to reducing annual energy costs by 20%.• Identified the need for increased cooling capacity and redundancy in the Corporate IT Data Center.
