Systems worked on include the workflow management system, the call center console, the mobile client and server suite (using UWP) and claims management interface (using WCF/ASP.NET), for all insurer communications).

Providing a central design and governance role, for the extension and improvement of newly introduced services, covering the end to end process flow of the business from contracts to claims.

Provided a central design and governance role in the adaption and integration of a new suite of business systems including Pega, Talend ETL, Talend ESB, Talend MDM, Alfresco and GMC Inspire. As part of this I was key to defining a system agnostic messaging infrastructure along with a canonical service/schema namespace and versioning practice, supporting the lifecycle of the business. This integration also included all key legacy systems and their modifications, as these systems are ultimately being phased out in due time, this had a major influence on some of the design principles adopted.

Handling the design, development, testing and service transition of source system extract processes and an associated data transformation layer to supply various existing UK and US system's daily financial data to a new Oracle cloud based financial / data warehouse system. The source systems were MS SQL, Progress and Oracle based running on both Windows and Unix platforms.The data transformation layer was a bespoke solution developed on MS SQL with SQL integration services using process, config and data table structures to support it's operation. It was designed to combine all source system data into common daily data groups which all conform to a common data model per country.

Delivered various enhancements to key enterprise system areas as part of a programme to improve the contractor network infrastructure and process. This involved both liaising with the architecture team to ensure adherence to the companies IT strategies, and technically leading ongoing scrum based analysis and development output of the core claims systems and their integration into third party availability driven servicing solutions.

Managed the transition of key systems to an Indian based outsourcing company. Headed a team of 6 to transfer the required knowledge and to support and develop various systems. After the transition I continued work with the team to enhance and improve the systems, this included the co-authoring of a replacement web service orientated solution.Throughout all projects I was heavily involved with the Homeserve stability program for all major systems used. This involved working with the architecture team investigating new technologies and making improvements to existing claim systems etc. All of which was across a variety of technologies such as VB/C#/SQL and Java/Spring/ESB messaging etc.

As team leader I managed team sizes between 4-7 developers. A multitude of projects were worked on relating to my team's skill set within the department, These skill sets included new instructions, system work flow, pricing algorithms, insurer specific pricing mechanisms, product data and control data maintenance tools. Technologies involved were mainly C#, VB and SQL server, both for windows form and web based development.My role varied from managerial tasks such as project, support and team management through to the more technical tasks such as researching new technologies and leading more cutting edge development in such areas as SQLCLR, ASP.NET, Ajax etc.Team efficiency was also maintained through managing/automating a great deal of activities with MS Team Foundation server (something I helped introduce), these activities included project planning, code reviews, testing and release management.

As the development manager my main roles were to 1) provide first class programming solutions using a variety of technologies including Web/Windows VB.NET, VB 6, SQL Server and legacy FoxPro environments and 2) to liaise with possible and current clients trying to give a non technical angle on technical solutions.Projects undertaken ranged from an internet based child care system used in over ten states in the USA to a frequency management application for the Fiji government. I also lead and managed the team in all matters of development and provided as much coaching as time permitted for both programming and project skills.

Lead the implementation of the new Y2K compliant EDI Gateway. This required a full understanding of EDI messaging standards, various mapping techniques, connectivity integration, VB6 and various IBM OS/370 mainframe programming languages including COBOL, JCL and OPC. Also investigated other new technologies such as PKI for the e-mail system and TCP/IP clients for our mainframe based memo, diary, phone book and bulletin board systems.Later I developed and maintained various key technologies for the group. Projects ranged from a custom SQL server fail over system to the company wide LDAP based authentication service and its platform independent Java API. I was the key technical developer/team leader for all of these projects.
