I am a Visiting Clinical Associate Professor in Curriculum & Instruction, in the School of Education at Indiana University. Prior to my position at IU, I was an Associate Professor in Foundations of Education at United Arab Emirates University (2022-2024). Before UAEU, I served as Head of the Humanities and Social Studies Education Academic Group and as Associate Dean (Partnerships & Analytics) in the Office of Education Research in the National Institute of Education (Singapore). I have also taught social studies in the United States, Israel, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan. My scholarly interests focus on ways to support social studies inquiry practices, global citizenship education and 21st century literacies in new global contexts. I am currently on the Board of Directors for Warm Heart Worldwide (https://warmheartworldwide.org/), a community development foundation focused on children's empowerment, sustainable development & livelihoods, and eldercare. I have two recent books (2022): How to Confront Climate Denial: Literacy, Social Studies, and Climate Change (with James Damico, Teachers College Press) and a co-edited volume (with Seah Lay Hoon & Rita Silver, Springer) on the role of teachers' knowledge of language in teaching.
