The application parses an XML document containing carrier specific information and customizes the PDA settings and applications to operate on the carrier’s network. * Designed, developed and maintained a Java application allowing users to easily create the XML provisioning document.

Principal Software Engineer with Information Systems SecurityAugust 1999 to October 2000* Projects: The Multi-Level Secure LAN (MLSLAN), and the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) for information and computer security research and development * Selected and adapted a BIOS for the Multi-Level Secure LAN (MLSLAN) product. The software for this product must be developed from the BIOS level on up to the operating system for security certification. * Designed, developed and maintained a Java Graphical User Interface (GUI) to allow easy entry of security rules for an intrusion detection research product. * Worked with the team in maintaining the C code for an intrusion detection system. This system utilized a client-server architecture on a UNIX platform. Various detection nodes reported to the server node via a communications backplane. This backplane was comprised of TCP/IP and UDP messages. The server node analyzed the data and took appropriate measures against the intrusion. * Worked with the team in designing, developing and maintaining new server security processes to plug into the backplane.Principal Software Engineer with Unmanned Air Vehicle Mission ManagementMarch 1997 to August 1999* Projects: Mission Planning Tool for Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) * Worked with the team to design, develop and maintain mission planners for various customers. The software was in C and C++ using Motif for the Graphical User Interface (GUI). * Worked with the team in a research project to design and develop a new mission planner based on a client-server architecture. This new planner provided plug-n-play capability for new software components with the ability to run on multiple nodes. Incorporated software design patterns to provide a robust and comprehensible basis for application development.* Authored and presented Design Patterns in the Common Application Environment FrameWorks at the 1999 Boeing Software Interchange Conference in Phoenix Arizona

* Projects: variety of measurement tools based on optical triangulation, a Thermal Acquisition Microscope, a wind shear detection program, and a satellite telemetry system * Designed, developed and maintained a C based Graphical User Interface (GUI) to provide real-time control of the measurement system and display the data in a graphical format. * Designed, developed and maintained a Visual Basic based Graphical User Interface (GUI) to provide control of the Thermal Acquisition Microscope and display the data in a graphical format. Also maintained the C libraries to capture and store the data in real-time. * Designed, developed and maintained the real-time C code for the remote stations in a wind shear detection program. This code ran on a Motorola 68HC11 and controlled the instruments at the remote station. It responded to queries from the base station and returned data as requested via a wireless modem. * Co-author of Surface Windshear Alert System, Part 1: Prototype Development published in Journal of Aircraft Volume 35, No. 3

Software Engineer October 1991 to October 1994* Projects: Embedded C code developed and tested under RTCA/DO-178 for Proximity Sensor Systems (PSSs) for Boeing 777, Canadair Regional Jet and Dornier DO328 aircraft * Worked with the team to design, develop, test and maintain the real-time embedded C code. This code monitored the proximity switch states, updated status based the logical combinations of the various switch states, monitored the health of the PSS and provided this information via the communication bus (ARINC 429 or ARINC 629) to the aircraft’s central computer. This development and testing extensively used in-circuit emulators (ICE)Test Engineer August 1990 to October 1991* Projects: Developed RTCA/DO-160 FAA certification test procedures and assisted with development of the manufacturing test procedures for the Canadair Regional Jet and Dornier DO328 aircraft * Designed, developed, and performed the RTCA/DO-160 FAA environmental and electrical certification tests. Worked with engineering to resolve test failures. Wrote the test reports based on the results of the test. * Worked with engineering and manufacturing to design and develop performance tests to verify the functionality at the board and system level.

* Projects: Minuteman HP-E35 Automatic Test Station (ATS) * Performed final acceptance demonstrations of Hercules test software and the ATS hardware to obtain final payment for the product. * Isolated and resolved any hardware discrepancies. * Isolated and worked with software engineering to resolve any test program discrepancies. * Maintained the ATS and the associated test adapters and hardware. * Trained Air Force depot personnel in the maintenance of the hardware and software. * Assisted Air Force test programmers in the development of their test sets.

* Projects: Functional Test Programs to support the Minuteman ground support equipment * Designed, developed and maintained Functional Test Programs in HP-BASIC and ADA. These programs controlled the IEEE-488 instrumentation in the HP-E35 Automatic Test Station (ATS) to provide stimulus and measure response of the circuit card under test. These programs verified the functionality of the card. If a failure was detected then the program provided diagnostic support to isolate the failure to the component level.
