Mark has more than 30 years of nuclear experience in positions of increasing responsibility with the U.S. Navy, nuclear power industry, Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). His experience spans business, operations, physics and engineering, and R&D, including nuclear experimentation. His diverse background of assignments includes: ▪ Submarine Officer/Nuclear Weapons Officer▪ Nevada Test Site (NTS)—support to LANL/LLNL in performing subcritical nuclear weapons experiments▪ U.S. Naval Reserve—Theater Nuclear Weapons Command▪ Y-12—program management responsibility for all nuclear weapons production capabilities (facilities, fabrication machines, and critical skills)Mark began his career as a nuclear weapons officer on a ballistic missile submarine and worked in the nuclear weapons complex while associated with the Navy Theater Nuclear Weapons Command. He then joined Bechtel at NTS as manager of nuclear experiments and research facilities. Over 4 years at the Y-12 National Security Complex, Mark held several positions including manager of indirect programs ($250 million/year); director of capital programs, serving as the primary interface with NNSA; and director for Readiness in Technical Base & Facilities.Before joining LANL, Mark had marketing and business development responsibility for the $8 billion Nuclear Weapons Complex market sector of Bechtel’s government business, and served as the major modifications market segment manager for the company’s nuclear power business.Mark holds an M.B.A. degree (Auburn University) and a bachelor's degree (U.S. Naval Academy).
