• Responsible for developing, organizing, evaluating, and overseeing a variety of town wide recreation and leisure activities including summer playground program, middle school adventure camp, after school programs, athletic events, dance classes, fitness programs, arts & crafts, pre-school programs, diversified group interest programs, etc., in a community of 35,000 +.• Assists in the development and implementation of the departmental budget; gathering costs and other data, making projections and estimates; preparing reports to justify budget requests; purchasing equipment, maintaining stock records, and ordering supplies as necessary.• Interviewing, hiring, training and supervising over sixty part-time and seasonal program staff, instructors and volunteers.• Co-founder of the Coventry Teen Center. Supervisor of all teen center activities, i.e. staffing, scheduling, internal control, budget, and preparing maintenance and repair recommendations to our maintenance foreman. Secured over $30,000 in grants and private sources to assist in operational expenses.• Coordinate the scheduled use of all town fields, school gymnasiums, and town wide recreational areas for departmental programs, town leagues, and community groups.• Responsible for the management and operation of the Coventry town beach (Briar Point).• Plan, organize and evaluate the summer concert in the park series: recruitment of performers; contract development; promotion, publicity, and event supervision.• Serves as a liaison between the Recreation Department and parents, appointed officials, media, general public, town organizations, administrators, and businesses throughout Coventry.• Coordinate, plan, publicize and evaluate community wide family and youth special events.
