About Mark Bates

Welcome to my profile, below is a brief outline on my working history.I have been a training professional for over 20 years, first getting the taste for training on a promotion course (Corporal) with the Australian Army, from there my passion has grown for training and especially in the emergency response and safety field.Having been a Volunteer firefighter I was able to improve my training skills as an Instructor with the Country Fire Authority, and it has progressed from there. Moving back to Adelaide I continued to be a volunteer firefighter and Instructor with the SA Country Fire Service (SACFS).Instructing at Brigade, Group and Region level with both the Country Fire Authority and the SA Country Fire Service, I was fortunate enough to be employed as Coordinator, Training Facilities with the SACFS.Late October 2001 I was employed as a Trainer / Consultant with Chubb Training Group based at Thebarton, Adelaide, where I became the Lead Subject Matter Expert for Workplace Emergency Response, spending close to 7 years with Chubb as one of their Senior Trainers. In June of 2008, I was employed as one of the Safety and Environment Trainers for Transpacific Industries, based out of Melbourne, responsible for Safety and Environment training in the State of Victoria and Tasmania for all Transpacific Sites. The position of National Training Manager (Safety and Environment) within Transpacific was advertised and I was successful in my application, I held that position from Dec 2010 - Jul 2013 where there was a restructure within the Company and the Training Team was dissolved, I then became the Training Transition Manager, Safety and Sustainability within Transpacific. After Transpacific I was employed as a Safety and Training Consultant with First 5 Minutes in Brisbane for over 2 years then transferred with the Company to Melbourne to take on the role of Senior Safety Training Consultant before returning to Brisbane with First 5 Minutes 3 years later and staying a further 2 years. I moved to Fire EMT as one of their Emergency Response Instructors for close to 2 years and now am employed with Chubb Fire and Security as one of their Workplace Emergency Training Specialist within Chubb Training Group and look forward to the move back to where it all started nearly 22 years ago.Thank you for taking the time to read my brief outline of my working history.
