Built, established, and commissioned 84,000+ SF folding carton manufacturing facility in China; this Wholly-Owned Foreign Entity (WOFE) is the company’s sole manufacturing center with capability to produce packaging for all strategic business units; as green field operation, project expanded onto existing injection-molding facility built to accommodate global primary packaging with trigger sprayers and pumps.Charged with providing leadership to service and develop opportunities within Asia-Pacific market by building and commissioning a folding carton manufacturing facility in China. Delivered support to sales force and large, international customers seeking to penetrate or expand in emerging markets.

Provided corporate leadership for all offshore manufacturing workflows for Cadmus Publishing Services. Led redefinition of offshore strategy, reorganization of domestic support structure, and elimination of communication and educational gap with Cadmus sales force. Managed engagement of both US and European-based sales directors and international publishers in strategic discussions related to global manufacturing, including ways to address global distribute-and-print challenges and to offset high cost of domestic production by strategically implementing offshore workflows.

Provided managerial direction and oversight of research, cost justification, and implementation of technological solutions for all Professional Publishing Divisions. Established clear communication channels between domestic customer support, offshore management teams, and publishers to foster confidence and maximize success of offshore process; traveled frequently to offshore locations to monitor functionality and quality of systems and processes.

While fulfilling all duties as Manager of Prepress Services and Process Technology, accepted the additional responsibility for managing all operations, supervision, and personnel associated with the web and sheetfed press departments.

Managed all operations and personnel in prepress and production planning departments. Created strategic plans and processes to achieve budgeted goals, reduce costs, improve quality, and increase throughput. Researched, developed, justified, and implemented all capital expenditures and new technology related to prepress, pressroom, and manufacturing processes. Generated cost savings, efficiency enhancements, and process improvements by initiating and implementing new technologies. Promoted employee involvement, training, and advancement. Supported Sales with manufacturing and technical support during on and off-site customer visits.

Originally hired at Port City Press as a third-shift technical supervisor. Promoted promptly to the Pressroom Manager position where responsibilities included managing operations, management, and personnel to achieve budgeted goals and objectives as set forth for the press department.Responsible for the research, development, justification, and implementation of all pressroom-related capital expenditures. Trained personnel in densitometry and quality control methodologies. Created written procedures and quality checks for all pressroom operations. Accepted additional responsibility for prepress department while managing pressroom.

Originally hired as a supervisory liaison between the prepress and pressroom departments where working knowledge of both areas was expected. Managed 20+ union employees in both conventional and electronic, 1- and 2-color, web and sheetfed prepress work.Served as the division’s Safety Coordinator and conducted monthly OSHA type inspections and meetings, trained personnel, and worked with maintenance in order to suggest and implement safety improvements.Completed a year-long, Advanced Management Development Program during 1996. Program’s purpose was to educate on all aspects of manufacturing at both divisions of Maple-Vail. Under direct supervision of the VP of Manufacturing, the program overviewed all departments at both divisions and included visiting competitors’ facilities and participating in sales calls in NYC. Program was completed while maintaining full responsibility for shift supervision and performance.
