Liasing with clients such as Ray-Ban, Sunglass Hut, Primark, Mothercare, Mark’s & Spencer, Sofa Workshop, Hotel Chocolat and Sudexo to realise their ideas through brand guidelines, to final print ready artworks using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop from the Adobe Creative Cloud software suite. Creating Photoshop visuals of my artworks, digitally placed in their intended locations to give the client an impression of the final result before production. These Photoshop visuals range from digitaly applying retail and brand display to images of clients stores, to creating digital visuals of corporate logos and graphics to company vehicles. Proofing and printing to two 42” wide HP Latex 360s, an OCE Arizona flatbed printer and the large format digital printer HP 3000 for prints up to 2.5 meters wide, on such stock as vinyl, sticky-backed clear window media and magnectic ferrous substrate amongst others.

Within Essentra (previously Clondalkin Pharmaceutical & Healthcare) I artworked pharmaceutical packaging for clients such as GSK, Bausch & Lomb, Allergan, Oral B, Boots No. 7, Vistakon Acuview and Polygrip. Press ready artworks with customer amends were produced using primarily ArtPro with use of Adobe CS and CC, all to clients strict pharma specifications and SOPs such as creating pharma codes, braille and their translations, employing varnish and varnish free areas where required, applying site specific trapping and cutbacks to whites and any special finishes like foiling and embossing/debossing. Single uints were uploaded to WebCenter for customer approval prior to imposing. Workflows and pdf delivery were handled by Automation Engine. Non pharmaceutical artworking for clients including Adobe, Apple and McAfee. Hard proofing to GMG led Epsons 10600 and 9800.

ASG Worldwide produced special packaging for the Film, Music, Video Games and Telecoms markets for clients such as Microsoft, Disney, Sony, Paramount, BBC and Fox. Here I was Artworking single units, flight-checking, imposing and delivering PDFs within the Packaging Service Centre using predominantly ArtPro. Multi-up die creation, ordering and creation of blanket files for press varnish plates used Esko Artios CAD. Single white folded samples and vinyl traces were output using a Kongsberg cutting table. Proofing to GMG led Epson 9800s and Roland UV LEC 330 printers with full colour control management and verification. Occasional Quark Xpress use in the design and creation of client guidelines and pocedures for the group sites. CAD department assistance given in creating single CAD files for a variety of folded media and physical folded white samples sent for customer approval including O-Rings, Double Walled Slipcases to hold Amaray blu ray/dvd boxes and crash-lock cartons.

As part of my working day I produced all Waitrose printed media; in-store magazines, checkout dividers, 18ft wide outdoor vinyl banners, posters, bus sides and till receipt holders amongst others. My brief for each job came directly from the customer which involved discussion about timing and printing the various items. I organised my own workflow schedules and priorities. This involved communicating with various printers so I could impose and supply printing plates or supply hi-res PDFs of the approved files. I also digitaly printed some of the Waitrose media in-house on two 42” wide Epsons and a 64” wide Agfa, or I might schedule the printing on the Indigo digital press. Proofing to Epson 10600 and 9800 colour inkjet printers using a GMG Rip, Digital Cromalin using a Dupont Cromanet Rip, Agfa Grand Sherpa using a JAWS Rip, two HP Designjet 5000s using a Harlequin Express Rip. Platmaking on B1 Baysis Print UV CTP Setter using a Harlequin Torrent Rip. Software included Adobe Creative Suite, Quark Xpress, Canto Cumulus, Filemaker Pro and 4D Client.

Part of a 5 man team in a filmless digital repro company. Using networked Macs & PCs to receive/create, impose & process artwork for customers such as BP, Marks & Spencer, Disney & Sony destined for a wide range of stock. Using Quark Xpress, Photoshop, Illustrator & Creo Preps for imposition of PDF/eps/postscript files & Rampage Pathway all running on Mac OSX Creo Preps in Classic, with occasional use of Freehand, Corel & Adobe InDesign. All rip-ing carried out using the Rampage Riping System plotting to Fuji Luxel Vx9600 CTPM B1 platemaker. Proofing to Epson 9600 with Kodak Colour Rip. Using Canto Cumulus, Dantz Retrospect & Toast for backup & archiving.

Mac, PC & scanner operator in a digital repro environment using all major packages including Quark Xpress , INposition, Illustrator, Freehand & Photoshop for image manipulation & re-touching. Working on imposed jobs & framing designs destined for such stock as aluminium foil, plastics & white paper. Using ten networked terminals comprising of 6 Power Macs, 3 PCs & 1 UNIX based CelebraNT Rip outputting to Crosfield Celix 4000 B2 imagesetter &/or Tektronix dyesublimation colour printer. High quality scanning is carried out on the ICG Sentinal Vertical Drum Scanner digitizing such mediums as contone, pre-screened halftones, transparencies & linework originals. Constant use of storage & backup mediums. Manual planning, manual platemaking, spotting & checking also undertaken.

Scanning colour reflectives & transparencies on ICG 350i Colour Graphics Scanner using Photoshop for re-touching, cutouts etc on a Power Macintosh. Setting ads, inserting scans & make-up of pages in Quark for Hyphen & Linotype imagesetters. Using Freehand & Illustrator for logos etc. Traditional hand planning including page make-up & camera work. Proofing using the Agfaproof proofing system & maintaining all reprographic equipment.

Traditional film make-up, planning, platemaking & camera operation for mainly web magazine work on titles such as Meat Trades Journal, New England Journal of Medicine, Hospital Doctor, The Spectator & BBC Wildlife Magazine. Using the Cromalin proofing system & Dianippon Step & Repeat Automatic Platemaker. Passmore Web Offset is where I trained and completed a 5 year apprenticeship both in house and at Watford College of Print.
