I worked for 20 years in the MoD and 10 years in the Prison Service. My jobs included working in a purchasing office, then switched to a computing role after taking and passing an aptitude test. I became a systems software support programmer, then computer operations manager before moving sites and doing project management, business metrics and becoming a computer systems security officer including risk management. Then transferred to the Prison Service and worked in the Internal Communications office doing communications work for DG and senior management and event organisation. My hobbies are railway modelling, plastic kit building and military history. I enjoy watching sport and TV dramas and socialising with friends etc. Currently not working because of total kidney failure, I dialyse three times a week on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday which makes even part time employment tricky. I'm currently on the kidney transplant list however I probably won't get a new kidney until at least 2021. I'm looking to do some voluntary work in the meantime which might or might not lead to a paid position. I enjoy researching for all my hobbies, so would be happy to do voluntary work with research or similar in mind.
