Lead Stress Engineer / Structural Analyst with 37 years experience in structural analysis of space flight vehicles, aircraft systems, landing gear structure/systems, and rocket engine hardware including the following:• Strong finite element analysis using ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Workbench, FEMAP, MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN.• Classical structural analysis support of systems (strength checks of landing gear systems, actuation, pressurized components, weapons deployment, hydraulic fuses, test engineering, MRB, formal stress and fatigue reports, certification).• Supported commercial and military programs working as a direct Boeing employee and also working for 2nd and 3rd tier suppliers to Airbus, Bell, Blue Origin, Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna, Lockheed/Sikorski, McDonnell Douglas, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, USAF, USM, USN, and Virgin Galactic.• Development/review of stress reports and finite element models to access the airworthiness of space flight test vehicles.• FEM simulations of rocket engine hardware including valves, turbomachinery, manifolds, and thrust chambers.• Classical analysis support using Bannantine/Comer/Handrock (Metal Fatigue), Bruhn, Conway & Currey (Landing Gear), Niu, Peery/Azaar, Peterson, Roark, Shigley• Loads development (internal loads, interface loads, beam element FEM’s. landing gear loads, actuation loads)• Fatigue analysis of metallic structure (stress life methods, Boeing fatigue method, strain-based methods)• Programming Languages (Fortran, Visual Basic, scripting (AWK and UNIX)• Analysis platforms (Mathcad, Excel, Blue Origin analysis platforms, and Boeing analysis software)• Provides guidance/consultation to design engineers, test engineers, stress engineers, and airframe customers.• Supported rapid proposals (RFQ’s, RFP’s, PDR’s, CDR’s, formal reports, and production) including identifying potential weight savings, cost savings, and manufacturing improvements.• Wrote/reviewed/approved structural analysis reports to document compliance with customer specification documents / global aviation regulations / military regulations in support of certification of landing gear structure / systems and hydraulic systems.
