Along my journey in becoming General Manager of a Golf Club, I was approached by our sister property Eagle Harbor Golf Club. They offered me the position of Event Coordinator. This was an opportunity to utilize my Bachelor's degree and become another department head. At this point, I have managed two departments within Club Management and was feeling confident in my progression towards General Manager. As the Event Coordinator I was responsible for creating, budgeting and facilitating year round events for all ages. The community held over 3,500 residents and housed 4 facilities with pools and recreational areas. The events provided residents with activities such as child care, social gatherings, private parties, holiday events, and adult parties.

During the second year of employment at Eagle Landing Golf Club, I was promoted to Cafe Manager. This was my first opportunity to be a department head and contribute to the member experience. The training I received was directly from the Executive Chef at the clubhouse restaurant. The facilities that I was responsible for included a poolside cafe and poolside Cabana bar. The cafe had a full menu that I created with the Executive Chef. Adjacent to the resort style pool, the Cafe served members and member guests daily while the Cabana bar serviced the public in the afternoons and evenings. I learned traditional restaurant management skills including inventory, food cost, safe food handling and banquet set up.

After graduating from Florida State University I was determined to work in the Resort and Golf Club industry. My intention was to learn all departments within club management in order to be a well rounded General Manager in the future. My final internship at Eagle Landing Golf Club offered me full time employment and I energetically accepted. As part of the recreation staff I supported the golf, tennis, aquatics, activities / events, real estate, restaurant, and facility maintenance departments. The experiences I gained allowed me to confidently assist any club member and ensure their continued satisfaction.
