I am a recently graduated Architectural Designer from Sydney, with a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from The University of Sydney. In order to gain experience and to learn from different perspectives I have been living in Copenhagen and using this as a base for exploring Europe for the majority of 2015.My interest in Architecture and Design fundamentally stems from my deep interest in how we live our lives and how this is shaped by our physical context. As an extension of this, my personal design philosophy sees the act and experience of living as the central concern of Architecture. I also see the fundamental integration of systemic sustainability into the design process – as opposed to simply using ‘environmentally friendly’ materials to execute an otherwise un-environmentally concerned building – as the key to achieving meaningful environmental results.The ability to simultaneously work across a variety of scales whilst drawing connections between different elements and abstract perspectives is the main strength of my design process. I also see the rigorous testing and cross-pollination of ideas that occur as the result of collaboration as the best way of achieving highly resolved and well-rounded work. Model making is a key to my design process, starting with concept or sketch models in order to iteratively explore ideas and then working up to highly resolved presentation models.
