I am on a mission to help people in my community live lives that go beyond mere survival. Much of life has become a rat race for survival, where the true essence of living is often lost. By reshaping our work and community spaces to nurture genuine living, our inner light can shine, guiding all aspects of our endeavors.My journey began with my first nonprofit, Autistic League, focused on advocating for policy reform within the police and the NHS for autistic individuals who are survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Over about four years, we concentrated on enhancing agency and autonomy for survivors, striving to improve their standard of care within law enforcement.After about four years of this effort, I had to leave my nonprofit behind and worked as a freelance consultant before finding support from another nonprofit, AutisticUK, to continue the vital work I had started. However, over time, as I witnessed the challenges faced by those I supported and reflected on my own experiences alongside the work of advocates around me, I struggled to accept that I was merely striving for survival and the bare minimum. I asked myself a rather dark question: "Is this all I am destined for?" This question led me to experience burnout, causing me to step away from all my work for over a year.Upon returning to entrepreneurship, I found my way to Joyfully Different, where I discovered the transformative power that entrepreneurship, community, and storytelling have in helping us unlock a life beyond survival—one that truly makes us feel alive.
