Care Group is a nationwide occupational health and safety service organization with a franchise formula.Care Group purchased Verzuimpunt in 2008 and I remained as financial director/CFO at group level. Earlier that year, Care Group purchased Mediplus Netherlands and my first assignment was to merge/integrate the Financial and IT departments. This merger has resulted in a 25% saving in costs and staffing. In addition to and after completing this project, I had the following regular activities and responsibilities:• Continuously optimize financial processes and procedures to keep up with legislation, regulations and market developments.• Deliver consolidated reports (Monthly, annual report, budget and forecasts).• Manage financial administration employees.• Manage Shared Service Center employees.• Contact person and first point of contact for external relations such as banks, accountants and the tax authorities.• Member of the MT and sounding board/sparring partner for management.• Monitor the liquidity position of the organization.

Verzuimpunt was a national occupational health and safety service provider. Verzuimpunt was a young, fast-growing company that needed structure and management information. Due to this rapid growth, the founders did not have enough time to properly set up the financial and IT departments. This became my first assignment when I started as a new partner. The goal was to implement Exact Globe as quickly as possible with an efficient/clear general ledger scheme supplemented with a cost center and cost unit structure. To achieve this, we determined in advance which (control) information we wanted in the reports to be developed. Investing in new offices and training new employees to keep up with growth was very expensive in both time and money. As a young company, our liquidity was not sufficient to finance all this in a timely manner and we were more or less forced to attract new capital. This became my new project, after analyzing all options it became clear that the best option for us was to sell the organization to a bigger organization that operated in the same industry as Verzuimpunt. Ultimately, Care Group became the new owner of Verzuimpunt.
