My name is Mark Bolin. I am an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and also a descendent of members from the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians as well. I have an associate’s degree in History from Tulsa Community College, a bachelor's degree in History from the University of Central Oklahoma, and also a master’s degree in American Studies from Northeastern State University. Currently, I am working on my doctorate in History at Oklahoma State University. My fields of concentration consists of a major field in Native American History, a minor field in European History, and a general field in American History. I am also a member the Native American Church of Oklahoma and enjoy attending ceremonies, stomp dances, and powwows as much as possible. I have been dancing and singing at powwows for most of my life since I was a kid and have travelled extensively throughout the United States and Canada placing in competitions from Manitoba to Louisiana and everywhere in between. I began my career as an educator first working with Owasso Public Schools Indian Education as an Academic Advisor to Mid-High and High School students in 2013. I also taught classes at the High School in Native American Studies and was certified to teach History and Economics. After working with the Native American Support Center at Northeastern State University while completing my master's thesis, I was offered a full ride scholarship with a Teaching Associateship at Oklahoma State University. Currently I work at assisting professors with teaching and classroom duties as assigned while also working as a part time adjunct professor at Rogers State University in Claremore, OK.
