A key member of the Integrated Targeting & Operations Centre leadership team - working with New Zealand Customs Service, MBIE Immigration, Aviation Security Service, MPI, Maritime New Zealand and the New Zealand Transnational Crime Unit - my role is to support the Director: Integration and my peers to ensure that we unite for a safe border and a prosperous New Zealand. By using my many years of experience at the New Zealand border I am able to both identify opportunities and solutions to the good of all of the agencies present.

Following the success of the Covid-19 supply chain programme I was tasked to link up Police to all New Zealand maritime ports. This was something that appealed to me, given my successes with the aviation sector. Over the next year I met and worked with the teams at all of New Zealand's main maritime ports, teams who were nothing but supportive and remain so to this day.This liaison role allowed me to better understand the crucial role that our maritime ports play in New Zealand's supply chain, and also how the security of each port is critical. Understanding the relationships, the risks, e.g. insider threat and the critical need to keep trade moving globally has been eye-opening.During the last year I have also supported all of these teams in a drive to better understand how ports can attract protests and work with those people who wish to legally protest, something which I've led on in a number of areas - pro-Palestinian protests, environmental protests and lately, those teams specifically targeting the cruise ship sector. Finding a balance when working with protest groups is a fine art.I'm delighted to be able to add Maritime to my already broad portfolio - coming from a sea-faring family I'm sure my ancestors are equally delighted.

Highly experienced government liaison officer with three decades of service across two jurisdictions - skillfully linking New Zealand Police and its sister agencies based at the Integrated Targeting & Operations Centre to other New Zealand and international government agencies, foreign embassies, consular offices and non-government organisations. Sought-after subject matter expert - aviation and maritime intelligence, inter-agency liaison, incident response, people groups, border security, airlines, air and seaports.

Trained practitioner (both UK and NZ) - this method of designing out crime has been used successfully by me on two prior major projects at Auckland International Airport (The major long-stay carpark and the Novotel Hotel in support of Tainui) and latterly in support of the New Zealand Customs Service as part of the overall risk assessment of their new multi-agency headquarters in Auckland - a report that was described as "significantly timesaving and extremely helpful".

Intelligence mentor to four Intelligence Support Officers - all of whom spread their professional wings and moved into either Analyst roles or full-time constabulary roles.I have also helped write and deliver the Field Intelligence Officer training programme in its early stages - now recognised as a centre of excellence in the collections sector.Beyond my organisation, I have also had the absolute pleasure of mentoring another four trainee analysts in organisations such as Dept of Corrections and DIA. One of these has secured a great analyst's role at Interpol's HQ in Lyon, France - the other won the NZIIP award for new practitioners. To be there in the beautiful surroundings of New Zealand's parliament buildings when she accepted her award was a genuine honour.

New Zealand Police Liaison Officer - supporting the Integrated Targeting & Operations Centre to ensure a robust supply chain operation was able to function during the critical phases of the global pandemic. Via existing and developing relationships I was able to support the New Zealand Customs Service, Immigration NZ, Maritime New Zealand and the Ministry of Health. Further relationships were fostered in the maritime sector which flourish to this day.
