Business Operations Director BU Powder Coatings

Responsible for AkzoNobel's manufacturing plants in the U.S, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, & Peru

Operations Director AkzoNobel Marine Coatings, presently based in Singapore. Responsible for plants, integrated business planning, inventory, service levels, plus warehousing & distribution, HSE, engineering, capital investment and operational strategy. Operating plants in China, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam. Specific focus on operational excellence, footprint, cost efficiency, capability & talent building.

Responsible for operations in the Middle East region, comprising 7 plants in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Egypt, Pakistan, South Africa. Manufacturing of Marine, Protective, Coil, Packaging, Powder Coatings, Decorative, and Chemicals products. Responsible for plants, warehousing, distribution, purchasing, laboratories, & customer service. Key projects:• Creation of central supply chain function for region – supply chain, engineering, HSE, customer service management• 3 year strategic investment plan to support growth • Approval of capital projects for new Decorative Coatings plant & Powder Coatings plant • Design of new Chemicals warehouse facility in Saudi for oil well stimulation products• Due diligence on Decorative coatings acquisitions in UAE, Saudi, and Oman• Implementation of cross-business sales & operations planning process• Completed supply contract with Saudi Aramco Oil Co• Expansion of 3PL warehousing facilities into Riyadh, Jeddah, Bahrain, Qatar, Dubai• Implementation of NPI (New product Implementation) process• Implementation of BBS (Behavioural Based Safety) & 5S• Introduction of operational excellence systems - TRACC

Responsibility for 7 powder coatings plants in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, UK, and Czech Republic. Including responsibility for supply chain, sourcing, and logistics:• 40% Reduction in reportable injuries through “Behavioural Based Safety”. Introduction of TUV process guarding standards across the SBU. Introduction of Cardinal Safety Rules.• P&L responsibility opex budget, including manufacturing, logistics & capital investment• Management of +4,000 stock items across 12 regional warehouses, with >97% in-stock performance, delivering to c6,000 customers• Achieving manufacturing excellence – TOC de-bottlenecking processes, SMED, 5S, and lean manufacturing. Process innovation in partnership with key equipment suppliers.• Reduction in inventory %LQS • Reduction in manufacturing cost as %sales • Raw material supplier rationalisation and consignment increased• E-sourcing & VMI programme with key suppliers• Operational integration of 2 major acquisitions over a 3 year period, including 3 factory closures and product range integration management• Project manager for European powder coatings SAP manufacturing implementation• Responsible for integration & centralisation of back-office activities, such as MRP & master planning• Process innovation leadership to identify, develop, and share Best Practice• 6 Months in based in France during 2008

Responsible for business supply chain activities, to create a single European supply company:• Definition of business-wide sales & operations planning processes• Creation of a business supply chain team, comprising regional supply chain managers & central team for demand management & logistics• Creation of logistics network to transport & deliver inter-company manufacture • Warehouse setup in Central Europe• Logistics tenders in all 6 manufacturing countries• Participation in NPR transport activities

P&L responsibility for UK Powder Coatings business, including sales team, plant, warehousing & distribution, laboratories, customer service, technical service. Serving +200 direct customers & +500 customers through distributors. Implementation of CRM, key account management, online selling offer.

• Responsible for UK Powder Coatings factory, manufacturing 10,000 tonnes of powder coatings per year, 8000 batches• Implementation of RSU (Rapid Service Unit) concept, delivering 100 new MTO products each week with a formulation & manufacturing leadtime of 5 days
