I was initially employed by ConvaTec on a contract basis to manage the refurbishment and upgrading of various medical device manufcaturing processes, once refurbished and proven i then managed the project of having the processes installed and validated in ConvaTecs facility in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. I have managed various projects for ConvaTec for 13 years, including having multi million pound machines built in the United States and Europe, i have taken projects from URS to RFP, CAR approval, Machine build, FAT, SAT and full IQ, OQ, PQ validation. I have also project managed the building of a complete 1800 square meter suite of cleanrooms, along with associated, HVAC equipment, loading dock and all associated building managament system upgrades.

I was initially employed on a project to automate several 100 ft long Baker Perkins tunnel ovens.The project was a success, i went on to progress further projects holding various titles including Design Draughsman, Project engineer, Project Manager, Engineering Manager. I worked on new product development, machinery projects, high speed packaging lines, flow wrappers,, cartoning machines, spiral freezer and proofing machines, upgrades including recipe driven bakery lines, touch screens, inverter drives etc. I took projects from a concept to a design to a process, to a CAR or CER to ordering equipment, installing and commissioning and into full production.

I was initially employed to work on the layout and installation of vacuum forming machinery in a new factory for Form Rite plastics, this included, all services, process flows, material flows etc. The position evolved to include the design and building of special purpose macxhinery, essentially around the vaccuum formimg of plastics.

EITB Broad based aprenticeship, 4 years, day release to Carlett Park College of Technology. BTEC In Plant Engineering. Introduction into projects in mid 20s steel roll forming lines, 50 tonne presses, pumps, pipework, compressors, pneumatics, hydraulics, machinery layouts. Welding fabrication, machining. Supervisory experience, machinery installations, production supervisor for curtain walling assembly lines. Left in May 1989 after 10.5 years, as immigration visa to go to Australia had been approved. Travelled around europe for several months, arrived in Australia September 1989.
