Mark provided the catalyst for business leaders to achieve the successes they have envisioned, both personally and in business. As an experienced CEO, Mark knows the challenges and opportunities faced by senior executives and business owners. As a TEC Chair, Mark was a facilitator and chairman of peer adviory/mastermind groups. In addition, Mark provided executive coaching to all members of his groups.

At Sonic Mark was responsible for the overall direction and strategy of the company. He oversaw over 100 employees, over 150 pieces of equipment and 6 locations throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.Sonic's operations consisted of tank trucks, frac heaters, hot oilers, acid trucks and pressure trucks. Sonic was the largest mixer and distributor of potash for the oilfield.Marks greatest accomplishment at Sonic was successfully organically entering and growing into the Viking play in Kindersley. As an out of the box thinker, he empowered his team to implement pricing strategies and "different ways of doing things" that were not the norm in oilfield service industry. Mark challenged how Sonic obtained their raw materials and other products in order to create value for our customers and improve the bottom line. Mark embraces technology in every aspect of the business. Where it can add efficiency, value and improve communication, Mark implemented it.He successfully downsized the operation prior to his departure to "right size it" to the low oil price environment. This was a lot more challenging then growing a company and was a great learning experience. Mark takes pride in the fact that safety was always a number one priority. his mantra was "if it cannot be done safely and with respect for the environment, it will not be done at all" He spread this culture throughout the organization and empowered all to take action if this was ever violated. Mark was very proud of the managers of each base and the experienced equipment operators Sonic had. Many compliments were received on Sonic's service and Mark is proud to have been part of the organization.

As Sonic grew we added the position of VP of finance to keep pace with the growth. Mark worked closely with the President on the strategic plan and implementation.Mark was responsible for the overall financial strategy to help support the growth goals of Sonic. This included - branch manager financial mentor-ship, - building and maintaining forecasting and pricing models - working closely with the banks to secure finding - Overseeing HR activities - Risk management

Mark was responsible for the management of the entire accounting cycle. He managed and mentored all accounting staff. He was responsible for developing and implementing internal controls for Sonic. Mark prepared monthly financial statements and forecasting within 5 business days of month end and presented to President and Private Equity Group on monthly basis.He managed all insurance, registration (prorate) and IFTA for all equipment.The biggest accomplishment as controller is successfully implementing an electronic ticketing system on IOS devices. This enabled Sonic to centralize all billing and head office. It enabled Sonic to invoice our customers almost immediately and track any and all lost tickets. This improved out payroll process, cash flow and month end accruals. This was a huge step towards growth and not a minor task to implement.
