President & Ceo

Highlands Ranch, Co, Us

Mark is the company's President and Chief Executive Officer responsible for building the strategy and culture necessary to accomplish Securisyn Medical's singular mission to address concerns with ventilated patient's safety, and to commercialize novel airway and medical tube/catheter securement technology invented by the Company’s physician founder through innovation, education, and collaboration. He is also responsible for building and leading the senior management team, for acquiring capital and market share, and for developing and realizing an appropriate growth strategy.Airway management, although a life-sustaining procedure, is associated with multiple safety events, many of which are potentially life threatening. One of those life-threatening safety events, unplanned extubation (UE), the accidental removal or displacement of one’s breathing tube, is a far too common event, occurring in approximately 7.3% of the 1.65 million mechanically ventilated ICU patients in the US each year, more than doubling the rate of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) and causing over 33,000 patient deaths. The direct cost to the healthcare system from unplanned extubation alone, not including liability and long-term care costs, is approximately $4.9 billion annually.Securisyn's flagship endotracheal tube securement device, SolidAIRity Flex™, featuring its patented Interlock™, launched a hospital-based, limited market release in late 2021, delivering excellent clinical and financial results with patient data supporting better securement, resulting in time savings on ETT adjustments, prevention of device-related pressure injuries, and a marked reduction of UE’s and its costly complications. Buoyed by these strong early results, a leading Colorado-based hospital system is expanding S-Flex™ usage into additional new sites, and Securisyn will also launch its novel, military-funded, pre-hospital ETT securement solution, SolidAIRity Frontline™, in the second half of 2022.
