At Sterling event group, my role is to manage the day to day tasking & operation of the warehouse and operations team, while maintaining regular communication with the projects team for daily and forward planning. I also manage the logistics & line management of the operations team, ensuring that my team always maintain high standards of health and safety.Other areas of my role require me to be involved in the recruitment of staff for operations and warehouse-based roles. To help keep our operation as streamlined as possible, I am also involved in a team that keeps our rental software up to date.Along with general health and safety within the warehouse, I am heavily involved in ensuring our fleet of vehicles are kept in as best condition as possible. This includes making sure that regular vehicle checks are undertaken, any issues that are repairable in house are done as quickly as possible to keep vehicles on the road, whilst also booking in anything that needs to be done off site.

As Head of Logistics and Dispatch, my responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operation of the logistic administrators team, co-ordinating their workloads whilst Providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues, and ensuring KPIs, are met. I develop my team by focusing on individual performance, whilst fostering a culture of working safely. I also carry out regular quality checks and audits while accurately monitoring and managing stock levels/supplies to identify shortages. To make this process simpler, I ensure daily deliveries and shipments are accurately recorded to reconcile inventory, whilst also organising and participating in weekly stock takes, publishing reports to stakeholders. I place orders to replenish stock, avoiding insufficiencies or excessive surplus and analyse data to anticipate future needs, reporting any stock level issues immediately to the necessary department. To ensure my team is as efficient as possible, I train new administrators within my area of responsibility, and identify any system improvements, making recommendations for change.Ultimately, as a team, our goal is ensure our customers receive the right orders on time.

Responsibility of leading and motivating a team of Warehouse Operatives, within Hermes’ Winwick Hub. I ensure their productivity levels are maximised through KPI management and compliance, and that standards of quality are always delivered in order to achieve the highest possible throughput using best practices and high levels of supervision and coaching. Reporting directly to the shift’s operations manager, I lead and motivate a team of 56 Warehouse Operatives as well as monitoring throughputs, parcel presentation, productivity levels. I am responsible for managing and controlling mis-sorts and damages, maintaining 100% momentum scanning compliance and Client SLA s to ensure the required KPI s are achieved. I lead by example adhering and ensuring that all H&S and hygiene requirements are adhered to in the small item sorter area and the Hub in general whilst on shift. Also involved in control room duties, including but not limited to, booking vehicles in and out of the yard, ensuring that all had correct manifests and trailers were either taken or put into correct yard spaces. Working closely with transport in order to keep up to date with arrival times and whereabouts of drivers to pre-empt busier periods and prepare any documentation necessary.

Responsible for general day to day running of the warehouse team. This includes overseeing the preparation of equipment & dry hires to the highest standard, liaising with dry hire customers to ensure orders go out correctly and the client’s needs are met. To maintain a high level of efficiency & effectiveness in the warehouse, I closely manage the progress and work rate of my team, enabling staff to stick to deadlines and tight turnarounds. Since starting at Sterling Event Group, I have implemented multiple procedures to maximise productivity around the warehouse. These include, scheduling contractors to service, maintain and repair equipment including organising testing & inspection of lifting & electrical equipment (forklifts, PAT testing etc). Other tasks within my role include improving health and safety within the warehouse. To do this I organise regular inspections of company vehicles, conduct weekly fire alarm tests and have staff complete monthly racking inspections to minimise any accidents or incidents.
