As a Lead Transportation Security Officer with the TSA I perform many tasks to further the TSA's mission. I train and instruct new employees, fellow officers, and superiors with changes to the Standard Operating Procedure. I coach and mentor, and have trained three people on Lead functions as an on the job training mentor. I operate a mod set, which is a lane of officers to process passengers quickly, efficiently, and safely. I collect the metrics from the screening lanes and enter them into the data collection system. I ensure my lane and team are working quickly and efficiently, making adjustments to staffing and positioning of officers as needed. I step in and handle unruly or irate passengers, and assist the public with understanding new screening procedures and regulations. I operate all screening equipment on the checkpoint, including X-Rays, Explosive Trace Detection Machines, Advanced Imaging Technologies, Bottle and Liquid Scanners and the Walk Through Metal Detector. I open and close the screening checkpoint, record lane opening and closing times and average out wait times.While on Playbook I have done the on the job training and certified Eight Officers and Four Lead Officers on Playbook functions. I work with Transportation Security Inspectors and Transportation Security Specialist- Explosives, stakeholders, TSA management, and the Port of Portland to conduct Playbook screening functions. I act as a Supervisor while deployed on Playbook, and make quick, decisive, and accurate decisions in regards to screening functions, locations and procedures. I document any incidents that happen and brief management and stakeholders on irregularities encountered during Playbook. I drive team members to and from screening locations, plan times, make appointments, and give briefings to TSI and Playbook assets. I give intelligence driven briefings and plan Playbook activities in accordance with current threat assessments.
