Senior Reliability EngineerSAGE Electrochromics2015 – Present (2 years) Faribault MNIn this role I collaborated with domestic and international internal partners to evaluate and improve SageGlass EC product reliability.Some highlights in this role include:♦ Improving gas retention in insulating glass units.♦ Revamping processes to eliminate electrical wiring issues in EC Insulating Glass Units (IGU’s).♦ Qualifying triple glazing units for walkable glass applications, resulting in new market penetration.♦ Implementing new techniques for in-field repair of failed solder connections, saving replacement costs.♦ Upgrading quality of electrical connectors, preventing tin dendrite growth and reducing field service calls.♦ Using reliability techniques such as Weibull analysis to provide in-field failure prediction, thereby informing warranty strategy. Here are some successes: I managed the transfer of the EC coating process from pilot line to production-scale operations through the following efforts:♦ Establishing sputtering parameters and process control charts for thin films that meet requirements for thickness, oxidation state, optical properties, and crystal structure.♦ Specifying thermal processes to provide best compromise between thin film performance and overall device performance.I created numerous applications to customize production equipment including:♦ Software and hardware development♦ Custom transmission sensors♦ Solar-exposure equipment for durability testing ♦ Factory-wide humidity monitoring systemI also created and maintained comprehensive manufacturing execution system (MES) for product labeling, barcode tracking, data trends, and inventory management, leading to more efficient operations and streamlined processes.
