The main focus of my current position is to turn research demonstrators and software prototypes into commercially viable software solutions. This is primarily focusing on modelling and simulation tools, visualisation of massive data sets and medical imaging.Using the latest in high performance computing techniques on GRID networks and on the GPU using CUDA, we are developing decision support tools to provide faster than real-time prediction of pedestrian movements within domain specific environments. These tools allow different intervention methods to be investigated to identify the best solution to problems as they emerge.

Writing bespoke software solutions for clients. Within this position I gained experience working as part of an Agile development team. I was responsible for developing on-line software solutions using C# / .NET for clients such as Universities, Government departments and large institutions. I gained experience communicating with clients; writing and updating software specifications; estimating and managing workloads; sticking to immovable deadlines while managing and supporting multiple projects; identifying risks and providing novel solutions and demonstrating software to clients.

Developed and validated an agent based model of eosinophil inflammation in asthma as part of the AirPROM project.The model was developed to run on the Iceberg HPC GRID at the University of Sheffield using the FLAME modelling framework. It was modified to use the CUDA enabled GPU nodes of the GRID to resolve chemical diffusion calculations within a 3D environment, facilitating accurate simulation of the molecular level interactions that occur between different cell types within the lungs.

I was contracted to developed DLA Piper's in house case budgeting system. This was a C# based Windows application with a client / server architecture using NHibernate ORM to communicate with a SQL Server database and integrate with in house personnel and financial systems. The system allows lawyers to provide detailed estimates of all the time and expenses associated with a case, and then compare these estimates with the actual costs incurred. The system is now being used by partners throughout the country and has won numerous commendations and awards for innovation. I was responsible for developing the database, full code design, implementation, documentation and initial training, as well as liaising with the lawyers, business analyst, database administrator and project manager to ensure that the application was high quality, delivered on time and under budget.

My main role was to develop both web based and windows based applications using C#.NET. My responsibilities included technical design, implementation, deployment and maintenance. I developed several component libraries, controls and techniques which were re-used on numerous projects. I regularly provided workload estimations based on both outline proposals and detailed specifications. I also had frequent contact with clients, and have performed business analysis and written requirements specifications.
