* Grew up in Cullowhee, NC, a mile from WCU Campus. * Played Football and ran Track in High School. * Began working on the Golf Maintenance crew at the CC of Sapphire Valley when I was 14, as a summer job. *. Made the decision to go into the Horticultural Specialties as a career, and began attending NC State University, in Raleigh, NC. * Did my internship at The Wade Hampton Golf Course, (then a Nationally ranked top 20 Course) learning the precision details of spraying programs for greens, tees and fairways; the technicals of Irrigation Control Systems and Pump stations. * Graduated in too 10% of my class from NC State and within 6 months, began working on the newly planned, Trillium Links; still in the very early design phase, as the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. Saw to the day to day implementation of orders from the Superintendent and Architect; building every Green, Teebox, Fairway and Bunker, on the 125 acre Links Style Course. * Saw the completion of Trillium Links after nearly 2 years of 60-70 hour weeks. * Rolled into the Maintenance and Supervision of the Golf Course as the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. * Was promoted at the age of 24, to the Golf Course Superintendent, after the departure of the previous Superintendent. * Responsible for a crew of 16-18 in season, overseeing all aspects of the Golf Course Maintenance. * Promoted to the Director of Facility Operations 2 years later, overseeing 4 crews, 60 employees and almost 2 million a year in budget expenses. Responsible for every aspect of Maintenance, Construction, Real Estate Land Development,Infrastructure and Amenity Construction and Maintenance. Worked in this position throughout 2007. * Came to WCU as the Director of Athletics Facilities, overseeing the Maintenance of the newly built or renovated Athletic Fields at Baseball, Football, Soccer, Track and Field, Tennis and Softball with one part-time Assistant, and one part-time student worker. Have overseen the setup, field prep and maintenance for 5 Southern Conference Tournament Soccer Championships, 3 Track and Field Conference Championships and 3 XC Track Championships in the last 14 years since I arrived at WCU.
