I integrated quickly into a deadline focused structural design team, contributing effectively and proactively to projects. My duties have included:•Design of concrete and steelwork elements on a £20M rail operating centre designed to resist blast loading. I ensured I fully understand the blast load criteria in order to check subcontractor designs and design additional elements required due to changes on site during construction. Independently kept track of and closed out design issues during later stages of project, agreeing deadlines with client.• Heading up a number of small residential schemes, providing designs in traditional timber and masonry employed imaginatively to suit architectural requirements.• Implementing the company QA policy by undertaking audits and acting as my office's quality representative, resulting in a strong commercial awareness and understanding of project procedures. • Communicating effectively with clients, architects and subcontractors, establishing good working relationships which aid in the resolution of issues arising during projects.

Paid work placement at a joint venture formed by Costain, Halcrow and Colas, aiding technicians and Engineers in maintenance works on Motorways in North West England. Upon the completion of the placement, a new position was created and a graduate Engineer was hired as a replacement. Duties:• Producing clear works plans for night maintenance work according to specifications provided by Engineers.• Communicating effectively with the Highways Agency, Police forces and Councils to arrange road closures for the aforementioned.• Making site reconnaissance trips, taking photos, measurements and producing clearly communicated notes for use by others.
