1. Works in partnership with the Executive Director to ensure the mission to plant new churches throughout the Metro DC area is being effectively implemented. 2. Leads and assists in weekly trainings of the New City Network Residency Cohort (6-8 church planting residents go through the program annually).3. Developed curriculum for the on-going monthly training of 50+ church planters within New City Network. 4. Actively recruits and assesses candidates for the New City Network residency.5. Brought onboard to assist in the creation of a comprehensive list of potential MLD partner churches in collaboration with Care Net’s Director of Outreach and Engagement. Contacted potential partner churches to recruit a team of MLD churches nationwide. Provided inspirational leadership and development in the launching of Portico Church Arlington.Operated as the visionary and fundraiser for the church plant, upholding it’s mission and values. Primary preaching and teaching pastor. Identified and empowered leaders to build ministry teams including worship, assimilation, community groups, children’s ministries, and missional pathways. Identified, trained, and installed Deacons.Identified, trained, and installed Elders.Built, oversaw, and provided care for a ministry staff team. Developed ministry partnerships with Acts 29, the Virginia Baptists, and other local churches.Served on church-planter assessment teams with Acts 29, and conducted follow up coaching with new planters.Trained and sent a qualified church planter with 40 of our members to plant a new dynamic missional community in Fairfax, Virginia.

Charlottesville, Va

Pastor of all discipleship ministries to include one-on-one mentoring, community groups, covenant membership, assimilation, Crown Financial ministry, kid’s ministry, premarital and marriage ministries, men’s ministry, and women’s ministry. Preached 10-20% annually. Formed and established the vision, methodology, and philosophy of community group ministry. Actively recruited and trained group leaders to create gospel-centered, mission-minded, multiplying community groups. Created and developed the covenant membership and assimilation process, including teaching an eight week covenant membership class, and facilitating member interviews.Planned quarterly member gatherings in coordination with pastoral staff and elders. Vision creation and restructuring of Portico Kids Ministry in 2007-2008. Implemented improved security protocols, recruitment and volunteer training, curriculum selection, and designed a new weekly worship experience for children. Instrumental in successfully implementing a cultural shift and organizational change through the launch of a contemporary worship service in a traditional Baptist Church. Acquired needed equipment and recruited teams including band members, audio-visual team, and set-up and tear down crews.Led worship and media for the contemporary worship service. Youth pastor for approximately 25-30 middle and high schoolers. Led and organized weekly worship gatherings, weekly bible studies, youth rallies, retreats, missions trips, and yearly summer camp.
