Business Unit Director
Business Unit Director responsible for the day to day oversight and long term strategic development of two category specific sites; soups and sauces based out of Grimsby and pizzas produced out of two sites in Nottingham
General Manager
A strategically crucial role to bring operational excellence to the 2SFG stand alone fish business. The role incorporates developing strategic supplier relationships as well as evolving our recent customer wins to drive quality standards and best in class production.Beyond these internal tactivities I am increasing the business' presence in the local area by taking the opportunity to get the site involved in the Seafood Grimsby and Humber Board as well as other environmental sourcing groups.
General Manager
Reporting to the Operations Director for the Meal Solutions Division and with full P&L and site team accountability. Responsible for the site's operational excellence journey and incorporating the leadership development of the Site Leadership Team and 1st/2nd Line Managers to empower them to become a central part of our future success story. This culminated in the team delivering their best winter ever; being awarded M&S Silver accreditation in the How You Do Business scorecard for Lean, ethical and Environmental pillars; and implementing a completely new pot design in a project worth over £4M.
Head Of Operations
Communisis delivers multi channel marketing solutions for its clients while the Leeds site in particular focuses on direct and transactional mail solutions for its customer base. The role reported to the multi site general manager and had responsibility for the whole of the client facing operation as well as the factory and warehouse functions. The environment was project focused and extremely complex. On arrival an immediate stabilisation plan was required to turn around what was an under performing business and had to be matched with an equally robust customer relationship improvement plan with such prestigious clients as Barclays and Nationwide. This turn around rapidly developed into building longer term strategies and opportunities to drive growth in particular through NPD, more flexible offerings and the internalisation of sub-contracted work. In addition, and in spite of significant capital expenditure restrictions, a £2M investment was made in 4 state of the art enclosing lines which revolutionised our post print operations. All aspects of the project were led and managed by myself and incorporated senior stakeholder management, supplier contract negotiation with group procurement and line installation/ramp up.
Factory Manager
Factory manager of the chilled ready meals, soups and spreads factory units based at Kiveton, Sheffield with an annual turnover of £49 Million. The factories required immediate leadership and direction. This was achieved by setting up an empowering and coaching centred envirnoment that made rapid change possible and culminated in the successful implementation of a number of site critical projects and review processes.
Factory Manager
A three factory site with a combined annual turnover of £80 million. During my tenure as factory manager I led two of the three of these business units through a dramatic and lasting operational excellence journey that embedded process control, cross functional integration and bottom line improvements to the P & L. Customer relationships were also enhanced through clear communication, action planning and quality/service delivery.Working in conjunction with the Head of NPD I re-branded and updated our site's concept to launch process. This was achieved through broad engagement across the site and developed greater ownership and accountability within each of the core stages of the process.
Shift Based Operations Manager
Responsible for the full day to day site operation of a major canning production facility of dog and cat food for Mars. This involved significant exposure to lean improvement techniques, the delivery of high profiles site lean projects and the growth of an engaged team in line with the values of the company.
