Working within the Imports team at Magna Park, I was responsible for monitoring the bookings for all ADDO and RDC sites. This involved liaising between 3rd party hauliers, bookings and merchandising teams at head office. Implementing weekly corefleet transport plans, I communicated with shipping lines and ports, arranging collections and restitutions from quay via VBS bookings and e-mail comms with various involved 3rd parties. The bulk of this work wass processed via e-mail or Excel datasheets as I tracked bookings, collections, failures, cancellations and amendments, working with other teams throughout the business to provide the best possible cost effective plan and ensuring this was delivered. Monitoring the DC Bypass, RDC Core Fleet and rail usage to all RDC sites, I also assisted in implementing cost saving initiatives to drive operational excellence.

As a member of Primary Solutions, a backhaul company working on behalf of the Home Retail Group, it is my job to liaise with suppliers and transport teams around the country. I deal with weekly collection bookings for suppliers sending stock into the company, processing their requests, handling queries and issues that can arise, then confirming details using Microsoft Excel. I have also been tasked with planning collections across the week for various suppliers, to ensure all stock is collected and delivered on the correct days for suppliers to meet their due days, and the sites to receive the stock for distribution to the stores.This role involves working to strict deadlines, a critical eye for detail, efficiency, accuracy, numerical and English skills and a high degree of competency when problem solving. It has also allowed me to create a folder of Standard Operating Procedures that can now be used to train future team members.I have continued my role in Communications by assisting in the writing, editing and producing of the on-site magazine, 'Park Life'. I have written a number of articles focusing on in-house developments as well as community work. My role also includes proof reading the work of others prior to publication.

I picked orders for delivery across the country, as well as restocking the warehouse as a driver of a reach truck. In my spare time, and when work permitted during shifts, I wrote articles for the 'Park Life' magazine produced by the Communications Team on site. The magazine aimed to improve communication amongst the hundreds of employees in the warehouse. As a member of the Comms Team, I learned how to better interact and discuss topics with people of different backgrounds and levels of management. It also gave me the opportunity to use and improve my writing and computer skills, as we worked with Microsoft Word, Skydrive and Publisher.

Sporadic employment.Helped to film a programme for Sikh TV involving only two cameras, captured tapes for editing, as well as acting as a general assistant on a wedding shoot and documentary screening, fetching and setting up cameras, tripods and vision mixing equipment, and dealing with members of the public.

I was responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service as the first point of contact for visitors, dealing with various situations that arose, from directing traffic to dealing with confrontations, resolving problems and answering questions from the general public, basic filing / admin and sales support, as well as manning the main entrance and closing the zoo at the end of the work day.Daily interactions with thousands of visitors, improved my face-to-face communication and customer service skills.

Sporadic employment.Using a Sony EX1, I assisted in the filming of three music videos, a Christian roadshow event, setting up and clearing away equipment, as well as filming footage for a flash mob video at Birmingham Bullring. Also shot a behind the scenes video, carrying out brief interviews with the singer and dancers.Music videos: 'Pumbeeri' by Foji, 'Where you been' by McLean and 'Punjabi Skank' by Sarpanch.

Responsible for training the new interns in using the soundboard, clip on microphones, studio cameras and lights, as well as setting up all the on location equipment of cameras, microphones, lights and vision mixing equipment. I was a cameraman on location when filming discussion panel shows, talent shows and public interest pieces in the UK, France and Italy, as well as filming studio chat shows, quizzes and interviews.
