I earned my undergraduate degree (B.S.) in human development from Cornell University and my masters and doctorate degrees (M.S., M.Phil., and Ph.D.) in clinical psychology from Yale University.I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Montefiore Medical Center. Previously I have served as director of a program to meet the needs of children and families struggling with mental health issues, and I have served as the Associate Director and Director of Training at Counseling & Psychological Services at Fairfield University. I have taught and supervised predoctoral interns, postdoctoral fellows, and licensed clinicians in CBT- and DBT-based therapies. I have been providing outpatient psychological services to adolescents and adults for over a decade.My area of focus includes the use of scientifically based therapies to treat a range of anxiety issues, mood disorders, and difficulty controlling emotions. I am trained in a variety of evidence-based treatments including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based strategies. My approach to therapy often combines skills from several therapies but always remains grounded in scientific practice.My main goal in therapy is to help my clients achieve their highest potential, whether that be in their personal or professional lives. For therapy to be most effective, I believe clients need to feel both supported and safe, as well as be challenged to make goal-focused changes. Although therapy can feel scary at first, it can also be an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling growth experience. There are evidence-based therapies to address most mental health issues, and with the correct tools, support, and practice, nearly everyone can make progress toward their goals.
