This included the introduction of object oriented design principles and the concept of data driven software to help introduce software reuse. Received an Engineering Innovation Award for this effort. One of the main aspects of this system is its ability to obtain and record hundreds of aircraft data parameters during the ground and flight operations to facilitate off-aircraft data review. Designed and developed the software executive, flight regime detection algorithms, and various low-level device drivers (RS-232/422/485, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, ARINC-717, Tachometer, I2C, EEPROM) predominately in Ada95 with some C and Assembler.Lead the software effort for the largest and most complicated IVHM system within the product line. In addition to leading the software team, supporting the program system engineering team. Have extensive experience working with our customers to define system requirements. Have chaired numerous customer requirement and design review meetings. Supported extensive integration and troubleshooting efforts at customer facilities both domestically and internationally.Co-developer of our Open Systems Interface which allows insertion of non-Goodrich software modules into the Goodrich application without sharing of company Intellectual Property.Led effort to port the Legacy IVHM system from a bare-board environment to use a Real-Time Operating System which supports software partitioning in both the time and space domain. This was the first C-17 simulator delivered to the customer. Worked closely with the aircraft manufacturer to refine aircraft maintenance practices and change aircraft design based upon knowledge gained while developing the simulation. Supported the hydraulic simulation capabilities for the full-up C-17 Cockpit Mockup and Maintenance Simulator. This included emulating the Built-In Test Software and display panel.Developed the AT3 Flight Simulator visual system interface and navigation software models from requirements through formal test. Supported on sight development, installation, and formal test effort at customer location in Taiwan. Worked closely with the hardware circuit card designers and developed interface software to command the Peripheral Interface Electronics which communicated with the actual instrumentation and gauges in the physical simulator.Primary image generator interface developer for ECC on a series of high-fidelity Army Manned Module Simulators for the US Army Close Combat Tactical Trainer program. Was responsible for working with the image generator manufacturer to interface the manned module software with the visual system. This included a ‘head tracker’ interface to dynamically change the operators view based upon the direction he was looking into the virtual battlefield. Also responsible for the software development on 2 manned modules (M113 and FIST-V) from requirements through test. This required working with the hardware circuit card designers to increase the capabilities of the Peripheral Interface Electronics to support the program.Lead group of eight simulation analysts in the off-site development of the Battle Labs Reconfigurable Simulator Initiative. Worked directly with the Army customer to define the system requirements. Was the primary contact for ECC on this program.

Software EngineerLockheed Space Operations Jun 1984 - Aug 19901986 – 1990: Certified Ground Launch Sequencer Launch Console Engineer responsible for the launch sequencing and countdown control software. Moved into this position immediately after the Challenger accident and helped to revamp the launch countdown software. Worked with various system engineers and members of the astronaut community to update existing and generate new software modules to improve the monitoring of the shuttle systems during the launch countdown. Developed an ‘automatic code generation’ tool in conjunction with NASA counterpart which generated the launch countdown software from a set of textual requirements.1984 – 1986: Developed high fidelity mathematic models used to simulate the various Space Shuttle systems. The models were used to train the launch console engineers in the launch procedures with inserted failure conditions. Responsible for working with the system engineers and shuttle documentation to generate the requirements, design, and implementation for the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) and Data Processing System (DPS) simulations. Instrumental in developing a complete launch countdown simulation environment. Received a Silver Snoopy Award from the Astronaut Office for this effort.
