I have been a freelance writer and publisher for the past twenty plus years. I was the founder and owner of the publishing company MW Educational, which I started in 1996. I have written over thirty different titles for MW Educational, including the books, The Student's Guide to English and The Student's Guide to Mathematics. I have written extensively on popular music for many years, starting out as the editor of the fanzines, "Silver & Gold" and "All Flared Up" in the 1990s. This evolved into writing the sleeve notes for several CD releases by such artists as Ten Years After, Wishbone Ash, Robin Trower and After The Fire.I have had two music books published: "Blowin' Free - 30 years of Wishbone Ash" (with Gary Carter) and "The Ultimate U2 Encycopledia". I have also written for music magazines including Q, Classic Rock and Record Collector.More recently I have started to write about transport related subjects including writing for the railway publications, Railway Magazine and Traction. I have written and published several books on Britain's railways and roads infrastructure, including “Britain’s Road Tunnels” (published by Amberley) and “Parkway Railway Stations - A History of Britain’s Park & Ride Stations” (published by Morton’s). My next transport book, "Britain's Coastal Road Bridges" is due to be published by Amberley in summer 2024.In April 2024 my next book, "Human Being" is due to be published. It looks at how humans behave through the eyes of a visitor from another planet and is an unusual mixture of both fiction and non-fiction.I have also written a blog for the Spirit Guides website and have interviewed several high profile authors and teachers for that website. In Lockdown I started the music based You Tube channel, "Mark Chatterton's Rock Files", which contains a mixture of live music videos and interviews with people involved in the Classic Rock music scene.I now own and run the publishing company Hadleigh Books which is mainly an e book based publishers, publishing in the fields of Education, Transport, Biography and Mind, Body & Spirit.
