Dramatically increased international business while developing new focus for domestic sales. Doubled sales in less than 6 months. Drove the end-to-end development of new products for Beats by Dre and Monster, steering new company offerings from ideation through launch. Leveraged market, consumer, and industry research to inform product strategy, market positioning, and bolster Monster’s standing as a global leader in sound technology. Established strategic direction and led daily efforts for teams ranging from 50-120 members, and ensured most efficient allocation of $10M+ budgets. Directed the development of more than $300M of new products, leading the design and creation of over 60 new products during tenure spanning headphones, power conditioners, and others. Developed products for Apple MFI program (iPhone/iPad), Android, and WP8, including hardware and mobile apps for remote home/office power control via cellphones & tablets, creating new “Cloud” opportunities with industry leaders. Created and headed the design of a new car audio system and developed a range of products for Bentley, Ducati, Lamborghini, Mercedes, and Porsche, both as OEM and in co-branded partnerships.

Directed the development, positioning, launch, and ongoing lifecycle management of Acoustic Development International’s (ADI) OEM transducers and speaker systems. Identified, pursued, and captured new business with high-priority clients. Used data mining to discover business opportunities, strategically fill market gaps, and further distinguish ADI in brand and product suite. Structured operations for maximum efficiency and effectiveness, and led 10-member team. Achieved 100% sales growth in each year of tenure; sought and secured revenue-generating partnerships with Apple, Microsoft, Polk Audio, H-P, Rode, and Genelec, among others. Aligned strategic plan with capabilities of development team and played hands-on technical role in design of innovative new products, including new design speaker systems for the bass guitar market. Grew the quality, consistency, and productivity of manufacturing operations through implementation of new processes and standards, including GMP and ISO 13485 best practices.

Helped steer $18M acquisition of the well-known Scan-Speak/Peerless/Vifa brands, expanding and diversifying Tymphany’s revenue streams. Helped lead and coordinate efforts of 35 team members across all business functions, aligning cross-functional staff behind common growth strategies. Worked with Alpine to develop our Linear Array Transducer technology for their best car audio subwoofer. Landed largest sale for Scan-Speak in their company's history.

I set up and ran the USA division of a European computer company, with the objective this office would do a reverse merger and go public on the NASDAQ. Company’s core technology was in high-speed networking using IEEE-1394 FireWire. Expanded product line into machine vision and industrial video cameras. Since no retail channel existed, I developed a unique partner program to use existing manufacturers like Apple, Compaq, Belkin, H-P, Xerox, etc., as our “sales force,” and set up an e-commerce site. Next, I opened retailers like CompUSA, Fry’s, & Micro Center to sell the networking products. I re-positioned Unibrain to enter the Network Attached Storage (NAS) markets take advantage of much larger growth markets.

A manufacturer of speaker systems, I was initially retained to increase their international business, I posted a 600% increase in 10 months. Because of my international performance, KRK cancelled their USA distributor and gave me their USA sales as well. Under my management, USA sales doubled in 6 months.

Developed products/relationships with NCR, Schlumberger, Disney, Shell, call centers etc. The US military is now their major customer.

Touchtone Software International was the #1 software utility provider to the IBM AS/400 market. I was recruited to launch company into Java based products and to develop a new vertical market application in apparel manufacturing & distribution. Moved to position company as Applications Service Provider; the first in the industry. Close ties with JD Edwards. Also helped developed Customer Relationship Management software that would dynamically update over the web from the company’s database. Provided all sales and marketing management. Clients included American Express, Coca-Cola, Gucci, Casio, Sony Pictures, Chevron, Disney, Dole, EDS, Microsoft, Porsche, Nissan, etc. Developed their e-commerce site. During this time, I came up with a method to dynamically assign new Metadata “tags” for data warehousing applications.

Designed a radically new type of digitally controlled, automated mixing console for use in recording studios, video post, live sound, and broadcast at an aggressive price point. Used parallel processing and a unique expansion architecture. Many of the newer competitors now use our original architecture. This mixer was used by many video post production facilities, and many TV shows and movies were made with this - like Xena, The Warrior Princess.

• Started sales and marketing from scratch (I was one of the three original employees). Built independent rep network and distribution. Moved company from zero $ to $16 million in the U.S. and $40M worldwide.* Developed SMPTE time code synchronization for Digital Audio Tape Recorders. This was an industry first, and it was something Sony's Broadcast engineers said could not be done, but I found a solution, and was issued a patent. Model D20.* Developed low-cost, easy-to-use SMPTE time code products; this made us #1 in the market in less than 1 year.* Developed first portable DAT recorder for movie location use.* Developed first center track SMPTE 1/2" two track audio tape recorder. Model E-22.* Developed small, great sounding, powerful monitor speaker model 6301B. This is still in production 30 years later!!!* Brought to market the first planar magnetic headphones, model T20, and sold many thousands. This is decades before the current headphone craze.• Managed all advertising and promotional campaigns (including dealer sales incentive plans).• Initiated new product and marketing ideas; brought over 80 new products to market. Many of these products were conceived by me and included patentable ideas. Company went from nowhere to #2 in the market in just 18 months.• Started and managed software development team (Macintosh/UNIX/MS-DOS) based in the U.S. because I believed we needed software modifications to our products to support our local customers’ needs. This move helped us grow from zero to 80% market share in SMPTE time code synchronization products within 2 years.

Originally hired to start new Professional products division, I developed new power amplifiers for studio and touring sound systems. The P50 amp I helped design was the first 1U size amp that was fan-cooled, fully complementary/symmetry circuitry, and had built-in crossovers. It had far more amplifier power than any competitor, and was also the first amp to have an automatic mono switching mode. It took 10 years before any competitor could even come close to its performance. The rock group The Police was one of our first customers. Built and managed sales rep organization. Later promoted to handle their hi-fi products as well.

Developed many new products for the company and trained their reps and dealers. I was responsible for many new products, even small but important improvements like moving the thumb rest on the Fender basses to the bass side of the strings instead of the treble side (which became the industry standard). I worked on the Super Twin Reverb, brought the "old tech" back to the products (like potting the pickups to eliminate hum) to correct mistakes of the CBS buyout, and many others. During this time, I implemented the first FM wireless guitar system in the USA. Using the Beyer wireless mic system from Germany, I built the system into a bass "suit" for Dan Hartman of the Edgar Winter Group - this was written up in TIME magazine. I put 100s of LEDs into special costume clothes for many entertainers working with clothing designer Bill Whitten of Workroom 27. In other words, I was doing "wearables" 30 years ago!
