About Mark Cohen
Mark A. Cohen is the Justin Potter Professor of American Competitive Enterprise, Owen Graduate School, Vanderbilt University. He holds secondary appointments as Professor of Law at Vanderbilt's Law School and University Fellow at Resources for the Future (RFF). Previously, he served as VP for Research at RFF and staff economist at the Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Trade Commission and U.S. Sentencing Commission. Professor Cohen is an expert on government policy, having published 100+ article on topics ranging from environmental regulation, corporate crime and punishment and the cost of crime. He has served on various governmental advisory panels and was appointed an inaugural member of the Stakeholder Council of the Global Reporting Initiative. At Vanderbilt, he teaches courses on Corporate Strategies for Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Issues; Future of Energy Markets in a Low Carbon Economy; Financial Analysis of ESG Data; and Law and Business of Climate Change. Since 2014, he has led an annual MBA project course to Israel, where students conduct consulting projects for start-up companies to assist them in entering US and global markets. Professor Cohen serves on the External Sustainability Advisory Panel for ExxonMobil and has also advised other multi-national companies on sustainability reporting and performance. He has traveled and lectured extensively around the world to government, business and academic audiences.As a consulting expert, Professor Cohen has been hired by both plaintiff and defense counsel to testify on a wide range of economic issues in complex litigation, including personal and business losses, statistical analysis of discrimination (employment, insurance, loans, etc.), environmental compliance and penalties.Specialties: environmental economics and management; corporate sustainability; corporate social responsibility; entrepreneurship; economic analysis and testimony in complex class action litigation
