Research in the Coles Laboratory at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology focuses on combining experimental and computational approaches to understand immune function and translate the outcomes into human therapeutics. Specific projects focus on:- Immune cell - stromal cell interactions and remodelling in rheumatological disease, cancer, infection and inflammation- Role of Innate Lymphoid Cells (ILCs) in epithelial tissue repair and function with a particular focus on chronic and acute wound healing- Application of multi-scale agent based models and mathematical modelling approached to identify molecular/cellular mechanisms modulating immune responses and using simulations to identify novel therapeutic approaches of immune mediated inflammatory diseases- Biophysics of immune responses (single molecule imaging / novel photonic devices)- Role of stromal cells in regulating anti-tumour immune responses in human cancers- Mechanisms of check-point inhibitor induces inflammatory disease pathologies
