A professional archaeologist for more than 25 years, Mark did his first degree at the University of London and post-graduate research at Oxford University. Subsequently he worked for Oxford Archaeological Unit and Buckinghamshire County Archaeology Service before becoming Edinburgh City Archaeologist in 1989. He joined Cotswold Archaeology as Head of Contracts in 1999 and then Rubicon Heritage Services in 2016. .Mark has specific overall responsibility for managing the commercial contract work which forms the largest part of business activities, as well as the delivery of substantial projects within the company's fieldwork and consultancy programme. As a member of the Senior Management Team and the Board of Directors, he plays a key role in maintaining and monitoring the high quality of professional services to our customers, from commission through to report delivery. He has extensive experience of all periods of British archaeology, and has written a range of academic papers and monographs on major prehistoric, Roman and medieval sites. As well as managing the delivery of complex urban archaeology programmes in England and Scotland, Mark has particular expertise in managing extensive archaeological projects for large pipeline and other infrastructure schemes, including major gas pipeline projects across South Wales and South-Western England.
