Hello, I'm Mark, a final-semester social work student passionate about making a meaningful impact on individuals and communities. My journey in social work has been a dynamic and enriching one, characterized by valuable hands-on experiences.During my first placement, I served as a face-to-face consultant in the disability field. Conducting one-on-one appointments and facilitating group workshops, I learned the importance of tailored support and the power of collective learning. I ended up being employeed with this organisation after my placement hours were finished and stayed with them for 16 months. It was a transformative experience that reinforced my commitment to social work.Currently, I am privileged to be part of the United Nations Association of Australia, contributing to the Zero Hunger in Schools project. This research-based placement has deepened my understanding of the systemic issues affecting vulnerable populations and honed my research skills.Each placement has shaped my perspective and strengthened my resolve to create positive change. Looking ahead, I am enthusiastic about continuing my social work career, with a strong interest in mental health/hospital settings, the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), or the homelessness field. I am excited to channel my knowledge, skills, and dedication towards addressing pressing societal challenges and advocating for those in need.
