I was asked to join the Natural and Built Environment team at MWH to help grow the business outside of the water industry. My role was to work alongside the flood risk team in delivering flood risk assessments and hydraulic modelling as well as working with other teams, such as land quality and the impact assessment group on GIS data analysis.

Following a successful year I was promoted and asked to lead a large modelling project in Northern Island. I work with a team of local engineers to deliver a calibrated network model that was then used for optioning and network optimisation. I also carried out a number of surge analysis jobs and built a number of hydraulic models of fire suppression networks including one for British Petroleum on a large Scottish refinery.

I started at Entec in the water water notwork team with the intention of using my clean water experience to help build the team, whilst growing my understanding of waster water.

On completion of my degree and following on from my placement, I was asked to return to Carlbro. The role still involved working on updating NWL's GIS system, carrying out filed work (pressure and flow logging as well as levelling) and constructing distribution network models and developing options but since the team was growing, training graduate and new team members.
