After leaving the army I joined the company as a labourer and after completing necessary training I quickly became a qualified scaffolder. After gaining experience, respect and trust I was offered the role of charge hand. Responsible for a squad of scaffolders and ensuring the contracts were completed to the highest standard within the allocated timeframe. I worked on contracts including new housing estates, Historic Scotland and am currently working on new construction at Dunbar Energy Recovery Facility. These contracts meant I had to work away from home and often entailed shift work which highlights my flexibility and adaptability to different working environments.

7 years’ exemplary service acquired in the British Army, where I progressed to the rank of Team Leader, some of the values and Standards that I upheld and maintained are: Leadership and Development - Led a team of 50 multi - national personnel, this involved using communicational, motivational and interpersonal skills, advising on training methods and tactics, achieving a greater knowledge of how to plan and organise their own operations ensuring fair distribution of tasks, which in return sustained good team morale and focus, resulting in a highly productive and enthusiastic team. Planned, prepared and delivered team training lessons to ensure that Government Forces were constantly ready for operational commitments, to a standard where they were capable of conducting and maintaining their countries own security, producing written and verbal risk assessments, whilst listening to orders, extracting information relevant to the job in hand, to ensure the safety of fellow team members, generating ideas as a team to achieve the best possible plan.
