Experienced Laboratory Supervisor with demonstrated expertise in the electrical utility and environmental laboratory industry. Skilled in Gas and Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Compliance, LIMS configuration, planning and validation, Quality Management under ISO 17025-2017 and laboratory administration and management. I have specific expertise and experience in:- Testing and application of mineral insulating fluids and lubricating oils by ASTM and IEC methods.- Testing for PCBs using GC/ECD and GC/MS, including triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry. I developed a low-cost, high-capacity and automated test method for PCBs in oil following EPA 680/Environment Canada RM/31 which is used to test thousands of samples per year. The method capitalizes on automated sample preparation of the liquid/liquid partition and SPE steps.- Testing water and soil for trace organics including petroleum hydrocarbons, PCBs, PAHs, and target volatile and semi-volatile compounds (ie. 8260 and 8270). - Actively involved in the application and auditing of a Management System. Have also consulted other laboratories (inside and outside Manitoba Hydro) in the application of ISO 17025-2017.- Laboratory Information Management Systems. Acted as the business lead to implement Abbott Informatics StarLIMS V10 LIMS product. The lab capitalizes on a large variety of LIMS functions including test/method management, analyst certifications, equipment management, materials management, quality control sample and result management for trend analysis in addition to conventional sample management. The system was successfully integrated with asset management systems. As a LIMS subject matter expert, have consulted other groups on the implementation and optimized use of LIMS.- Active member of the ASTM D27 and D02 committees and a number of their subcommittees.- Deemed an expert witness in trace residue testing in Court of Queens Bench in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. Provided testimony in a number of trials on testing for pesticides and oil residue.
Listed skills include Analytical Chemistry, Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Water, and 12 others.
