After five years as a public defender, I entered private practice with Elmer Giuliani, a legendary Cleveland defense attorney. In 1993 I joined Berkman Gordon Murray & DeVan focusing on the defense of the criminally accused. Founded in 1964, BGMD is a litigation law firm representing clients in the defense of criminal charges, civil rights and First Amendment cases, personal injury and medical malpractice claims, and business litigation and administrative actions. We represent clients in federal and state trial and appellate courts nationwide. Our attorneys have appeared and argued in ten federal courts of appeals resulting in more than 1,100 pages of published judicial opinions in the official Federal Reporter and have received recognition and numerous awards for skill and professionalism.I am a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, a fellow in the American Board of Criminal Lawyers, past president of the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and recipient of the OACDL 2020 Lawyer of the Year Award.
