I was responsible for managing the day-to-day affairs of Next, an MBA award winning mid-tier construction company located in Sydney, NSW. With annual revenues of $65m and over 70 full-time staff, my role included overseeing all business operations to ensure key outcomes were attained for all stakeholders.I also had responsibility for the company’s financial performance and for preparing and implementing comprehensive business plans to achieve the company’s vision. I played a significant role in the early stages of Next’s operations by implementing key policies and establishing the company’s finance, human resources, quality assurance and business development systems. I was co-owner and operator of a 24-hour service station and truck stop facility, located in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. With annual revenues of $14m and 25 staff, I was responsible for all day-to-day management and P&L responsibility for the business. The facility comprised fuel, convenience store retailing, a mechanic workshop and a 30-seat restaurant. I successfully negotiated a head lease of the site to Caltex Australia Ltd. in 2008 and the subsequent sale of the freehold property in 2009.
