I am an ICAEW Chartered Accountant and partner in Ellacotts’ Agriculture and Property team, where I lead the delivery of services to a wide range of farming and rural businesses and landed estates. I specialise in providing tailored tax-planning advice, particularly in the areas of Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and Inheritance Tax (IHT). However, I am also experienced in other areas of taxation that affect land based businesses and farmers looking to diversify.Much of my work relates to succession planning and helping clients create a plan to pass the business and their interests in land to the next generation. This can be a complex process but my approach is to keep matters as simple whilst ensuring that the tax burden for the family is clearly understood and kept to a minimum.Farming is in my blood having grown up on a dairy farm and studied agriculture at Nottingham University.
