• Designed and executed experiments for my own projects and for projects in collaboration with graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in the laboratory of Dr. Cherry and in collaboration with other laboratories both at the Perelman School of Medicine and at other research universities• Amplified and titered virus stocks and maintained a detailed inventory of all virus stocks in the laboratory• Concurrently maintained numerous mammalian and insect cell lines in culture for my own experiments and for other personnel in the lab, froze down stocks of all cell lines, and maintained a detailed inventory of cryopreserved cells available in the laboratory• Performed laboratory management tasks including receiving deliveries, shipping samples and reagents, maintaining inventory of and ordering supplies, ensuring proper disposal of hazardous waste, coordinating chemical waste pickups with Environmental Health and Radiation Safety, ordering new equipment, coordinating necessary service for current equipment, and writing detailed standard operating procedures for cell maintenance, virus amplification and titering, siRNA transfection, and other common procedures• Trained new personnel, including undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and research technicians, in standard operating procedures including cell culture, immunofluorescence assays, and RT-qPCR assays• Generated preparations of plasmids (minipreps and maxipreps) for myself and for others in the laboratory• Troubleshot issues with equipment• Aliquoted reagents, prepared solutions, and executed other laboratory maintenance tasks as necessary

Conducted stem cell research in the Iftode lab differentiating adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells to clinically relevant phenotypes including nucleus pulposus and osteocytes using a three-dimensional poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) hydrogel polymer scaffold and two-dimensional silk film scaffolds respectively. Duties included conducting viability, differentiation, and gene expression analysis experiments including XTT, alamarBlue, and Live/Dead staining viability assays, stem cell culture and differentiation with growth factor cocktail media, and RT-PCR and RT-qPCR assays to determine relative differences in gene expression between differentiated and undifferentiated stem cell cultures.Other duties included training new personnel, data analysis, preparing publication quality figures using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, preparing and presenting posters for local research symposia and the American Society for Cell Biology annual meeting, drafting manuscripts for publication, and lab management duties including fulfilling safety requirements, general lab maintenance, and ordering of supplies.

Web development using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and MySQL to create a custom Phonebilling application for use by Rowan's Telecommunications department to keep records of phone bills and user, account, phone, and number data.Work was conducted using Agile development methodology (Scrum with use of JIRA).Subversion was used for revision control.
