Large Scale Magic Show on Broadway with complex illusions, close-up magic, and multimedia. Staged in a Convention Center Hall at the Moon Palace in Cancun, Mexico.

A new original musical written by Richard Oberacker and Robert Taylor. Directed and Choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler. The show won a Tony Award for Best Choreography.

3rd iteration of “The Illusionists” on Broadway. Show focused on illusions created in 1903. Large and small scale illusions. Involved coordination of live and still video content. Challenges were dealing with safety regarding acts with flying and open flame.

Large scale magic show on Broadway. Challenges included having to reconfigure the running order for the show daily due to availability of performers and keeping the show within safety guidelines. We also had 3 rotating versions of the show based on show length that would all be performed over the course of one day.

Pre-Broadway tryout for the new original musical at Paper Mill Playhouse. Directed and Choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler. The Broadway production renamed the show by removing “The” and the show became “Bandstand”.

Developmental production of a new original music written by Nick Blaemire and produced at Barrington Stage Company. The show created “home movies” made for the production. The movies had to be precisely synced with the live music so the actors onstage and the actors on film were speaking/singing simultaneously.

Original new musical based on “Found” magazine created by Davy Rothbart. The show took notes found by actual people, musicalized them, and told a fictional version of the founding of the magazine. Heavy use of projections - both still and animated. Timing of animated finds had to be coordinated with the performing of live singing and music.

Produced by Roundabout Theatre Company at the American Airlines Theatre. Directed by Lindsey Turner. Movement by Sam Pinkleton. Starring Rebecca Hall, Michael Cumpsty, and Morgan Spencer. Very challenging set by Es Devlin. Involved a rotating cube with 12 manually moved walls which could change room size and cube configuration. Many times the set/furniture/practical electrics had to be changed while the cube was rotating and the cast was moving from room to room. Directed by Terry Johnson. Written by Peter Quilter. Produced by Joey Parnes Productions. Starring Tracie Bennett as Judy Garland. We did our out-of-town tryout at The Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. I transferred the show to Broadway at the Belasco Theatre. I also PSM’d (and helped restage the show) when it was performed at The Ahmanson (Center Theatre Group) in Los Angeles.

Magic elements designed by Jim Steinmeyer. Production challenges included very large scale scenic elements entering the stage from above, the wings, and traps. Also, we worked with Foy to create Mary Poppins’ final flight over the audience as well as Bert’s upside-down walk around the Proscenium. Involved developing and rehearsing safety protocols and emergency procedures which were approved by the Department of Labor.

Started during the summer of 1995 as a replacement Assistant Stage Manager. Was eventually promoted to Stage Manager and then in 1998 became the Production Stage Manager.
