I started off my working career at Mustang Yachts in the late 1970's when epoxy resins where first coming into the marine industry, building over 15 race yachts from 1980 to 1990. In 1991 I started up my own company with my wife and Advanced Marine Structures Ltd. (AMS) was founded. AMS started off building small race yachts on the Isle of Wight but soon went into sculptures and our most famous early on project was Big Blue at Canary Warf, this was a 17m diameter glass/carbon structure that sat on 22 individual glass panels, designed to be the sky light for the shopping mall underneath. Since then I have remained the director and the company has grown to employing up to 30 employees and completing jobs on-time and inside budget for a number of different clients, most recently we have been working alongside Abacus Lighting Ltd. who are design and manufacturing the street lights for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Now being 55 years of age I am slowing down with the day to day managing of the company and handing on to my son George.
