Designed electromechanical downhole tools for use in coiled tubing operations. The project won "2021 World Oil award "Best Well Intervention Technology Award– ACTive Power CT Real-Time Powered Downhole Measurements System". I developed new hardware and processes for installing cables into coiled tubing, designed new surface and downhole equipment to support new cables, and designed new electrical connectors to resist corrosion in contaminated environment. I conducted testing and created documentation in support of manufacturing and certifying use for equipment in Europe (CE) and for offshore deplotyment.

During three internships at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, I tested new materials to be used on the Ares 1 crew launch vehicle. During this time I fabricated a wide variety of composite samples included carbon fiber, polyethylene fiber, fiberglass, and sandwich composites. I performed various tests on these samples to determine their suitability for use on the spacecraft capable of travelling to Mars. Tests included micro-meteorite resistance, liquid oxygen compatibility, re-entry capability and various tensile and compression tests.

I performed stress analysis on different cargo components for the Airbus A-380 and Boeing 787. This consisted of performing a wide variety of structural analyses and producing documents to certify that the appropriate analyses had been completed. While performing stress analysis, I also helped to improve the components by working with designers to minimize unnecessary stress concentrations and lighten components where possible. During this time I used various industry guidelines such as the Lockheed stress manual or Roark’s stress manual, standard free body analysis, and finite element analysis. I also worked with a senior stress engineer to write a macro for Ansys that allowed several differing tests to be simulated autonomously and simultaneously.
