Mr. Mark E. Solomons serves as an adjunct professor for the Naval War College (NWC), Fleet Seminar Program (FSP) where he delivers the NWC Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I to students who cannot attend the NWC in-residence. The SSX Strategic Assessment Division is responsible for anticipating future strategic and operational challenges and opportunities, developing and synthesizing strategic appraisals, and framing them for the Army's senior leadership. We lead Army efforts to identify strategic opportunities and challenges important to Army senior leaders as well as develop recommendations to improve the formulation and implementation of strategy. Keys to our success include coordinating recommendations with counterparts across the Army Staff, OSD, JCS, and other military services as well as synchronizing efforts across combatant command and Army service component staffs. In addition, SSX provides comprehensive updates to the Chief of Staff of the Army in support of his Title 10 duties as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as well as represent HQDA across the DoD and Interagency strategic assessment community.

The SSA Division provides and coordinates Army support to the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy and the Joint Staff J-8 in developing Support to Strategic Analysis scenario products to ensure the Services have a common foundation for force structure and force sizing decisions. SSA is the Army lead for input to and promulgation of the Defense Planning Scenarios and vignettes associated with the corresponding Multi-Service Force Deployment (MSFD) documents, as well as their use in studies, strategic exercises, and analysis of the data derived from these scenarios and documents. In addition, the SSA Division is responsible for working with OSD(Policy), OSD(CAPE), the Joint Staff (J8), as well as other Services to update and manage the scenarios used to size and shape the Services under the Support to Strategic Analysis program. Working as members of joint planning groups and with analytical tools and support from Center for Army Analysis, this division develops the Army inputs and coordination to establish OSD approved scenarios that allow the Army and other Services to work through the Quadrennial Defense Review, the Defense Planning Guidance, Total Army Analysis, and other national security related documents.

Assistant Program Manager for a strategic modernization program between the US Army and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Responsible for providing advice and assistance on war fighting, training, and operational and tactical planning to the full-time 120,000+ man Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG). Responsible for managing a security assistance program worth approximately $15B that assists the Ministry of the National Guard (MNG) in developing requirements and fielding weapons and systems to improve their combat readiness. Provides coaching, mentoring and training oversight of two regional headquarters, 11 motorized and light infantry brigades, MNG Headquarters, and National Guard Military Schools program. Provides oversight, leadership, and evaluation of a 500-person Institutional and Unit Training Division of the Training Support Services contractor.

Served as an adjunct professor in the National Security Affairs department of the US Naval War College (USNWC). Supported the NWC’s mission to be the premier center of strategic thought and national security policy innovation by teaching the Theater Security and National Security Decision Making Policy Analysis sub course to 30 mid-grade level joint military officers and civilians and to 30 senior level joint military officers and civilians. Educated students on the complex political, organizational and behavioral phenomena that are relevant to national security decision making at the national level and joint operational commands. Duties included curriculum development, subject area mastery, and course administration. Assisted in the NWC outreach efforts with key external audiences to include international service colleges and Combatant Command staffs.
